VCOP M-M-Megapack (free!)

Discussion in 'Primary' started by Brenden, Jan 1, 2008.

  1. I understand that there are a few VCOP "megapacks" floating around, especially on eBay. When someone advertises a megapack, however, this usually means they've padded it out by putting each vocabulary word on its own A4 sheet - 100 pages!

What I like to do, instead of fleshing out pages of Word documents and selling them for four pounds each, is think up new methods of combining resources together, and developing processes for automating all of the "grunt work". My flashcard generator, for example, can now produce a PDF full of flashcards, with colour changes to indicate word categories, from a list of words.

So I present to you, the reader, my version of the VCOP Megapack. In much the same style as my recently released 'Letters and Sounds M-M-Megapack', this is absolutely free, and contains a range of categorised resources related to the topic.

This pack isn't very big yet, mainly because there are fewer words to work with, but I will be adding to it gradually and announcing new updates in this thread. Let me know if you have any ideas!

Brenden, you're a star!I had a look, and although VCOP wurdz ain't not my specialist fing, I can certainly imagine how useful this would be to many primary teachers.

    Good on you!
    Happy New Year!

Thanks Brendan! Great stuff again. You have been busy this holiday. Thank you for making this available to everyone very generous of you.

And a Happy New Year to you.

  6. Hmm, that is a bother. I assumed the school had somehow gotten permission rather than lost the cognitive ability to recognise copyright. Or perhaps they looked through the document and noticed that it doesn't contain the word "copyright" or even the (c) symbol, which they might consider to be some kind of loophole.

I was given permission by Curtis at Andrell to produce the Punctuation Pyramid, however it still remains the Copyright of Andrell and, in turn, Primary Teaching Resources on their behalf. I know that they have pursued people in the past who have produced VCOP resources without permission which is why I have emailed the school to ask them to remove the link. I have also asked TES to remove the link too.

  8. This has got stupid - punctuation is not copyright!

  9. thanks for sharing - can't wait to qualify and use it!

I agree JT, but I had to request permission from Andrell to produce the Punctuation Pyramid as it is their Copyright.

  11. Thanks for resources - a great prompt to remind me to update my displays for 2008. Happy New Year!

  12. no offence Shelley but pyramids are ****! I spent a whole morning trying to make one and failed! It might work for some people but not for me.

  13. Well I imagine that Andrell will feel slightly more lenient to someone who isn't selling a 7-page word document for £3.50 each, so there should be no problems.

  14. Thanks Brenden...and it's all free!!! :)

  15. Sorry Brendan - wasn't meaning to hijack your thread - as I don't sell punctuation pyramids as I can't make the things not quite sure what you mean??

  16. juliateacher, I was considering my own position in this little copyright conversation, given the presence of similar pyramids in my free resources collection.

  17. As far as I know there is no copyright on the dictionary? Do the Egyptians hold the right for pyramids?

  18. Better let Curtis know! ;)

  19. What do the colours link to on the words, openers, pyramid etc? I assume levels! We colour code ours according to red = ambitious vocab, blue = punctuation, green = connectives and yellow = openers Very useful when highlighting levelled work, lots of high lighting = high level! Chidlren get instant visual feedback and even do their own highlighting! Any chance of having some of them in black and white?
