usb memory stick project

Discussion in 'Design and technology' started by rob_woodwork, Mar 27, 2012.

  1. Hello all,

I want to have a look at running a make your own USB memory stick project with year 7 or 8. I have seen them before, but can for the life of me remember where. I wondered if anyone has any images of some? Or a step by step? We have a laser cutter, but someone's examples would be great before i make my own?

    Thanks in advance.

Sorry about the quality of the photos - taken on my

I find this is a great project with my Y7s but you need something to keep them
occupied while your laser cutting with pupils. I’ve started making them create
packaging, posters and a TV because I didn’t like the power point they were
    completing originally.

Pupils are provided with a 2D design template with the
maximum dimensions of the acrylic and the outline of the memory stick. They
just create their designs on this. Once they understand how they can use layers
and engraving as a feature you get some great ideas. I was very impressed with
my last group and looking forward to more after Easter!

  3. What have you found is the best way to join them?
