ups 3 wanting to apply for assistant headteacher

Discussion in 'Pay and conditions' started by ChrisMcG, May 27, 2012.

  1. At the moment I am currently on UPS 3 plus TLR £2535 = £39291. I would love to apply for assistant headteacher at our school but the job is advertised as L1 - L 5. If I have to start at L1 scale ie £37461 I would infact take a drop in salary. Is this how it works or would I be slotted into the point nearest to my current salary.

No, it means that they'd have to be paid more than UPS1+ TLR. That's what paragraph 12.3 tells you. The "highest paid classroom teacher" isn't the same as it sounds!

The pay range will probably be set at that level because the budget is dire. So there will probably be little room for negotiation.
