upper threshold 3

Discussion in 'Senior Leadership Team' started by ter3sa, Apr 11, 2012.

  1. Hi,
Does anyone know what the criteria and application process is for applying for upper threshold level3 ?

  2. As far as I know you would move up automatically after being at U2 for two years, there is no need to apply for anything other than threshold (moving from M to U).
  3. And 2 positive performance management reviews

Try this for a guide with regard to criteria . . .
    Performance expectations - UPS3

    Quality of Provision

  5. I'd be quick though - UPS 2 and 3 are going to be shelved by Gove soon!
  6. UPS3 requires much more management work now, if you're not managing core subject etc then in our school you would no longer get it. We have had 2 teachers demoted to main scale from US2 as they refused to take on more for the pay, fair in my view. It shouldn't be an automatic nudge up just because you have taught a few years more.

You cannot be demoted from any point on the scale, either main scale or upper scale.
    Please provide more information.
Upper Pay scale was designed to keep teachers in the classroom, not give them management responsibility.
Your final comment, 'fair in my view', shows total lack of understanding about TP&C.
Just what sort of school do you work in and what is your role?
    Worrying, to say the least!

It may be possible to move someone down if they work in an academy. If you are in a maintained school then you can not be moved down from UPS but if you were no longer meeting the UPS standards could face some form of capability.
