Any ideas for art work based on rivers?
I got a huge roll of clear plastic ( the sort used for OHP slides I think!) We mixed paint with glue and made individual comb etchings of the river and bank in shades of blue and green. ( We also made an enormous class sized version !) The children then made life drawings and water colour paintings of different animals and plants we saw on our trip to the river which they then cut out and attached to the back of the clear plastic. Looked rather effective and the huge roll came in useful for a variety of activities ( backing for writing display, whole school display etc)
Have you looked at the work of Hokusai? He is famous for The Great Wave but painted lots of rivers and waterfalls.
We painted our own on long strips of paper and also made waterfalls in shoe boxes. We used strips of fabric and lots of different papers inclusing cellophane and hung them inside the box so you could look through them.
