Updated Pay Calculator

I have updated the pay calculator at

    http://www.tesfaq.co.uk/pay

to take account of the changes to pay this month, including:

    • Higher personal allowance
    • Slight changes in NI and tax thresholds
    • Increased student loan threshold
    • Changes to pension costs

Obviously it is only as accurate as is now possible in the changing landscape. It is still based on the old pay scales which most schools seemed to stick to. If your school/academy has gone for a different system then I'm afraid it won't be as useful.

Please do share the link widely.

Tafkam's a real star doing this.

It still worked exactly for me, though I wasn't on a standard salary.

Just select the closest point and adjust the 'TLR' amount to make the total up to your actual salary.

I would say it would be worth Tafkam updating it. As he said last year, a lot of schools still used the old points and just keep adding the inflationary rises on. To the best of my knowledge, every school in my LA still does.

    Hello,

You can now check your current salary using our new pay scale calculator:

    https://www.tes.com/jobs/careers-advice/pay-and-conditions/pay-scale-calculator

There are separate pay scales for unqualified teachers, qualified classroom teachers, qualified teachers on the upper pay range and leadership. Your pay will also depend on whether you work in inner London, outer London, the London fringe area or elsewhere in England or Wales.

Please note: The teacher pay scales listed apply to teachers employed by a local authority or by the governing body of a foundation, voluntary aided or foundation special school. Academies and free schools are not legally required to implement the pay scales, so it is best to request to see their own pay policy.
