    I
do Application and Interview one-to-ones, and also contribute to the
Job Application Workshops. We look at application letters, executive
summaries and interviews, with practical exercises that people really
    appreciate.
The next Job Seminars are all sold out, I'm afraid.

I can absolutely confirm the ES works I was shortlisted for all the jobs I put an ES in (wasn't successful so need work on interview although all jobs said it was really close) So yes it does work for shortlisting and helps focus your thoughts.
