I picked this up in the TES page when bringing up the forum.
which tells us about the lack of funding for the arts in schools.

It coincides with the news from last week that part of the delay in producing Betty's speech to parliament is that it has to be written on goat parchment. We all know that this is probably just an excuse but it does point out not only the absolute sheer hypocrisy of the pratts running our society, but also their complete lack of appreciation of what goes on outside their little bubble of Westminster irrelevant pageantry.

Now the cost of one piece of vellum is going to be nothing compared to the cost of the supply of all the A3 and A2 art paper needed by our school children, but, -- come on now, -- the symbolism is vast. Do they really take us to be that stupid and gullible.

What --- WHAT --- is the point?

We long since abandoned any pretence at a rounded education for all.

For the common herd it's Maths and English but, if you can afford it, those of more exalted station will get what I got. Music, drama, French, the Classics, performing Moliere in French, having the Halle (not the WHOLE Halle) come to school to play for us etc etc. But that was a long time ago.
