UEA Primary PGCE - anyone had an offer?

Discussion in 'Thinking of teaching' started by amay92661, Jan 5, 2012.

  1. Hi everyone :)

First post, hope its the first of many!

I had my PGCE interview for primary (KS2 with MFL) at UEA on 12th December. We were told we would hear within two weeks if we hadn't met the admissions criteria and were unsuccessful. Places would then be confirmed in January once the TDA have released their figures, which they have!!!!

Has anyone received an offer for any primary PGCE course at UEA yet? There are 186 places this year though so that's good news!

Also I have heard that the UEA PGCE is quite badly organised...I was wondering if this would true and if anyone else would have anything to say about it - good or bad?

I have also applied for the Suffolk and Norfolk GTP and am struggling to decide which would be better (if I get in that is, of course!) So if anyone has any advice for either courses, please let me know!

  4. Hi!

Well done on getting a place :)
I have an interview on the 22nd Feb and i'm really nervous! Not sure what to expect and can't help but think the worse. Are there many applicants do you know? I've applied for KS1 + 2

    Jen

  5. Congratulations!! I am very very jealous of you...but fingers crossed we will be on the course together in September :) Do you mean you had your interview early in December? Haven't heard anything yet, just eagerly waiting to get a letter! Did you find out via track or letter?

    Alex :)

  6. Good luck for your interview!!

Don't worry about the book presentation, its not as daunting as it sounds! And all the people you will be interviewed with are just as nervous and there's no competitive atmosphere, which really helps you to relax!

I would just say, in your personal interview, when answering the interviewers' questions, be as specific as you can because they kept really trying to get the most specific answers out of me as they could! No general "I would make an excellent teacher because...", more "I would do this in the particular situation you're describing, which means that I would be an excellent teacher!"

    Good luck :)
