The Griffin Schools Trust, whose accounts show that it breached financial guidelines in 11 different ways in 2013, has paid more than £700,000 to a company wholly owned by its joint chief executives, Liz Lewis and Ange Tyler, over the past two financial years.

    And so on...

I note that Griffin Schools have a Value-For-Money statement on their website:

The Trust uses options appraisal in making purchase decisions and has secured higher level support by outsourcing some functions such as the provision of IT support and the management of capital programmes, than it could by employing directly.

Going forward the Trust will look for savings through shared energy contracts, the gradual introduction of LED lighting and the potential for earning through solar panels selling energy back into the grid. We will also look to income generation through further lettings of school premises and facilities and through the success of school to school support programmes.

Not sure how many LEDs it will take to recoup that £700,000

It was obvious what boards of trustees are made for!
When I hear that charities make so much money they need the CEOs of supermarket chains and consortiums to 'run" them, it just make me shudder!
You don't see them siphoning off funds into their own 'green' offshoots?
No questions asked. Because all those that would ask the questions are always one 'performance' away from being sacked, or being 'promoted' to look the other way.
Now where else is that sort of thing happening? Hmmmm
