training to become a foundation stage teacher

Discussion in 'Early Years' started by shelly1975, Jul 25, 2011.

  1. For the last year I have been in charge of a small group of children under the direction of a qualified teacher. I am a qualified to nursery nurse and both the teacher I have been working with and the head have urged me to consider training to become a teacher. I still have the responsibility of my own family and going to university would be difficult for me. The school have said they would provide me with any support I would need and I feel I owe it to them to at least research the idea. Does anybody have any advice on what I would need to do, would a foundation degree in early years be enough to get onto a graduate teaching course or would I need to go for a subject degree?
