Training in KS2 want to teach KS1

Discussion in 'Trainee and student teachers' started by tbird800, Jun 11, 2011.

  1. I have had some responses from my letters that I have sent out to schools regarding a GTP in September 2012 and one is looking quite promising. My 'problem' is I have always wanted to train in Key Stage one but this is a Junior school so just years 3-6. Obviously its very difficult to secure a supporting school so I won't turn down their offer but would I gain enough knowledge through my GTP with the other placements etc to then apply for an NQT in key stage one?
If you train mainly in year 5 say are you qualified enough to then go and teach year 1?
I'll probably find that I really love key stage 2 anyway....

  2. You also have to complete a 4 week placement in a contrasting placement. your host school shouldsort this for you, but this couldbe your opportunity to gain KS1 experience.
