I've just completed a PGC SpLD (Dyslexia) and am looking to set myself up doing assessments. Before I buy the kits new I want to buy 2nd hand copies to get myself started.
    I am looking for
    WRAT4
    TOMAL2
    CTOPP
    TOWRE2
or any others that are available that can be recommended. I already have
    DASH
    WRIT

    Many thanks,
    Joanne

    Hi Jo

I would actually recommend the WIAT2T-UK instead of WRAT4. The WRAT is fairly old now and also US standardised, which can be confusing on occasion in terms of delivery for the student. WIAT is about to go to WIAT3, but there is no news yet on a Teacher's version which would be purchasable by specialist teachers. WIAT also gives you a speed of reading assessment, on top of comprehension/accuracy.

The only test of any value (in my opinion) in the WRAT4 is the single word reading test, if you were looking for a quick test to administer. But by that point it is a very expensive single word reading test!

If you are testing at younger ages, YARC comes with a single word reading test of it's own, and then the WRAT4 spelling test becomes useful, but again at great cost for a single test.
