I applied for a role within my current college, teaching in a different dept with SpLD learners - I didn't get picked the first time around but they advertised a second position and i applied again. I have been invited for an interview, great news, I was really pleased, however I just found out that it is with the dept Head only and HR are not involved, I have never heard of this happening and wondered if I am just being given a token interview because I have been persistent? Usual interviews have 3 staff members including HR for unbiased scoring.

Is it during the summer break? May be just down to availability.

Or you were a close runner up the first time, and so it's a token interview because they know they're going to offer you the job.
