TLR to Acting Deputy

    Could anyone tell me where I would stand if I was asked to be acting deputy and I didn't want to take the position, I'm the only TLR at the moment so would that mean that I couldn't really turn it down.

    You might want to ask on the SMT forum or Headteachers.

    I would say that you and the other TLRs should be invited to apply for acting deputy on equal terms.
    I guess it is possible that if you are the only TLR, or the highest TLR, it could be in your job description - some form of wording about stepping up in the absence of DHT or HT (although you should still expect to be paid lowest relevant point on deputy spine).
    It is in mine (highest paid TLR in school), but even then all TLRs were invited to apply and I didn't.
