Help! I’m moving from year 3 to year 2 and was after some advice, especially on how to raise GPS attainment... something proven to be successful if possible. School is in a deprived area and a few SEN children. Thank you

    Know the TAF inside out.
Focus on it from day 1.
In terms of spag, daily spag warm up in English, lots of shared writing point out word types as you talk, use reading as a way to improve spag e.g. can you find another sentence that starts with an adverb etc.

For spelling, concentrate on the common exception words from day 1. Send them home to learn too. A spelling bee is a good inventive for families to learn common exception words. Get a long term spelling plan together that allows for teaching all of the curriculum spelling patterns and also also allows for recap and repetition. Display common exception words on the walls and your weekly spelling rule too.
