Cliff Michelmore, a familiar figure in BBC radio and TV broadcasting since the 1940s, has died in hospital aged 96.

Here he is with his wife, Jean Metcalfe, behind the Two Way Family Favourites microphone.

RIP Cliff - apparently he was still driving to his local supermarket only 6 weeks ago - at 96! Respect!

RIP Cliff. You were the spitting image of my father who passed away a few years ago.

Reminds me off chopping the mint or mixing the mustard for my mother on a Sunday.

As well as talking about the referendum even more recently than six weeks. His son spoke very lovingly of him this morning.

He reminded me a bit of my dad. (Except my dad was a horrible man.)

    Yes, Sunday lunch.

Yep. Wasn't he also on Nationwide? Or am I thinking of Tonight.

He was a fixture on our TV early evening anyway, or so it seems.

My job too! (Or one of them)

(We used to have a gadget for chopping the mint which I've never seen since. It was like a roller, formed from several sharp-eged discs.)
