Time off for a funeral

Discussion in 'Pay and conditions' started by Imsdal, Jan 27, 2012.

  1. That's such a shame. I think people view cousins in different ways. I know a teacher who was given three weeks (leading up to a holiday) off work to go to Canada for a funeral so know it can be allowed.
From this and other posts I think the rules on leave should be clarified -although the danger would be that it would overall become harsher.

The 'rules' are set by each individual school, not at national level.
Three weeks off to go to a funeral is - frankly - ludicrously excessive, unless the death was of a member of the immediate family (parent, child or sibling) and most of this was compassionate/bereavement leave.
