Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro has denied he ever blamed NGO’s for starting fires in the Amazon – claiming yesterday’s remarks were only raising suspicions. With a record number of fires blazing across the rainforest – environmentalists are blaming the President himself for encouraging loggers and farmers to clear more land. And the reason they are worried – the Amazonian rainforest is a vital source of carbon which helps slow down global warming.
