    I have no idea what this thread is about but that's not going to stop me posting a reply.

    In a class I held up a length of wood and asked, 'How long is this?' A student replied, '42 centimetres.' That was a measured response!

    Ah! but did the student actually measure the length of wood because if they didn't it would have been an estimated response. ;)

    I got them all to measure the length of the wood before I asked the question. I have another piece of wood exactly one metre long but I don't use it as a rule!
