Do you suppose that the West's own politicians do not manipulate the West?

Of course they do, but they don't use chemical weapons and the threat of nuclear ones. (Typical ex-context response)

At least she’ll have a more believable answer to the question ‘What was the naughtiest thing you’ve ever done?’

    May's Press conference this morning:

Her threat of military action against Russia may be heard from time 8:40. Robert Peston's challenge to this and May's clammy response may be heard from 15:13.

Lots of self-grooming & gaze-avoidcance throughout Q&A with an odd grimace at 20:06. This woman is not comfortable with anything she is saying.

So we're now bombing the people who are fighting the people we've also been fighting, who arose out of the conflict where we decided to fight people as result of something done by totally different people who wanted to fight us?

And the Russians are actually helping the Syrian government fight the heart-munching jihadis who we were apparently so opposed to not so long ago.

Is this actually more us giving the Russians a reminder we are still here after they have made us look like mugs by their securing of a long-term position on the ground in a very important and strategic part of the world?

    13th March
MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia said on Tuesday it had information that the United States planned to bomb the government quarter in Damascus on an invented pretext, and said it would respond militarily if it felt Russian lives were threatened by such an attack.

Valery Gerasimov, head of Russia’s General Staff, said Moscow had information that rebels in the enclave of eastern Ghouta were planning to fake a chemical weapons attack against civilians and blame it on the Syrian army.

He said the United States intended to use the fake attack as a pretext to bomb the government quarter in nearby Damascus where he said Russian military advisers, Russian military police and Russian ceasefire monitors were based.

“In the event of a threat to the lives of our servicemen, Russia’s armed forces will take retaliatory measures against the missiles and launchers used,” Gerasimov said in a statement.

He did not say when the alleged attack would take place or provide detailed evidence to back his assertions.

Russia has previously accused rebels in Syria of preparing to use toxic agents in eastern Ghouta so they could later accuse Damascus of employing chemical weapons.

There's a name that rings a bell. Gennadi Gerasimov, one of Gorbachev's men, is reported to have told Western journalists upon the collapse of the USSR "We have done the most terrible thing to you that we could possibly have done. We have deprived you of an enemy."

The Western powers obviously miss that enemy.

Can someone explain how May, who seems to need parliament votes on every sentence of Brexit, can take us to war without needing parliament to vote on it?

    It was used in Falujah

US troops used white phosphorus as a weapon in last year's offensive in the Iraqi city of Falluja, the US has said.

"It was used as an incendiary weapon against enemy combatants," spokesman Lt Col Barry Venable told the BBC - though not against civilians, he said.

The US had earlier said the substance - which can cause burning of the flesh - had been used only for illumination.
