Just on his or her back legs. My husband agrees. The ones in the first picture would never stay up.

I would never attempt it with our three. Two refuse to wear any style of coat, let alone other clothing. The other wears a winter coat and has pyjamas for cold nights but that is just a fleece coat to pop over her head.

There would be practical issues about weeing with either type.

If the dog was below the doggie equivalent of 21 years old and was a skateboarding dog he'd probably wear them as shown on the right, but with the waistband below the tail.

Second one covering back legs... otherwise anus is exposed and that kind of defeats the purpose surely?

Trousers? If a dog were to wear trousers?

Fairly practical. When they squat down to poo the trousers won't get soiled. Not usually.

The version on the right is more practical, true, but the full version has a kind of rustic yokel overalls vibe to it that might appeal to country folks...

First it was squid with cameras. Now its dogs with chainsaws. I think we can all just put our feet up and let the animals do the chores from now on. About time, really.

Take a man to the Pole and he eats you on the way back. Ingrate!

How demeaning is it to treat animals in this way?

The only animals that need coats are horses, at certain times, and small dogs who shiver in the cold.

It's like piercing babies' ears. Horrible.

If the dogs object to it, they should say something.

Only if we remove nature's natural coat (or import breeds with finer coats)
