    Is the top vegetable thing a pastryless quiche? It looks delicious.

    Supercolourful cake!

    I was going to do that, but got distracted by something else in my cupboard...

    See the diamonds on top? They're gems. I love the way my phone autocorrects that to germs!
    And hidden gems inside too, sort of. A very nice quiche. But the gems aren't hidden.

    See the PERFECT checkerboard effect inside? See the gems on top? Not hidden.

    I realised that I failed to meet my own brief... But it's a very nice cake to eat.

    I thought it was hidden because at first glance it looked like trifle with grace cherries and angelica on top and then (surprise!) it's savoury.

    Belated Hidden Gem
    There's a bit of a story to justify this as a hidden gem as opposed to something I fancied making and needed an excuse. At first glance, this raised pie might look like a bog standard pork pie (this was the theory, anyway):
    pie1.jpg
    But then you cut it open and lo! No meat! A hidden gem for a vegetarian like me who always fancies a pie but never gets one! The filling was also supposed to look all colourful, glazed and gem-like:
    pie2.jpg
    It turns out hand raised pies are harder than I thought.
    :eek::p:D
