Attention fantasy footballers:
Update: Your membership of existing leagues will have been confirmed.
It was a penalty. There was enough contact with the leg of the striker as she pulled her foot back to shoot. And she clearly didn't dive. However, it was one of those that would be very unlikely to be given in real time and you'd have to take it on the chin.
The offside could have gone either way. Not quite as bad as the one Cameroon didn't get the benefit of. The lower defender has their foot almost level but White's knee is just offside. Hardly a clear and obvious error...
Steve Bruce ***.
The beginning of the end
The football equivalent of replacing a thoroughbred racehorse with a donkey.
Will Newcastle win a game this season ?
Good grief. Steve Bruce and no strikers. Must sadly be a sound bet for relegation.
That was my thought when Strachan became manager at Saints. He turned out to be the best manager we’d had in a long time (and were to have for several years).
Steve Bruce is a lovely bloke
But he's a Championship level manager.
9.30am: Steve Bruce is announced as new Newcastle United manager.
10.00am: #BruceOut is already trending in the top 10 in the UK.
Nothing like getting off on the right foot.
Plus they are getting hammered by Wolves in China!
It's a terrible appointment - relegation guaranteed. The Newcastle fans will just not accept it. If they get off to a bad start it could be all over by Christmas.
Nice bloke - but not a premier league manager.
the only managerial appointment I can think of that might be worse is if they had given the Chelsea job to Steve McLaren.
It's also a very bad sign when Newcastle players who have never worked with Bruce feel compelled to go on national radio and the press and make very unconvincing statements about how optimistic they feel about his appointment.
I thought this might be of interest to football fans here. An insight into the life of a ballboy.

Great reading. Alan Shearer started off as a ball boy at Newcastle.
Steve Bruce was apparently 11th choice as the new manager of Newcastle.
How long before we start hearing that chant on the terraces.
Will NUFC finish above or below 11th this year?
Ill go for 17th
I'll be amazed if Bruce lasts till Christmas.
They finished 13th last year.
Who do we expect to take that on and work miracles?
Without a decent sum of money for new players then no one. Wilful neglect.
