It does now work. There is no mechanism by which the existence of a death penalty inspires murder.

Not the existence of a death penalty.

The big question today, is do we really know anything? Far too many ‘experts’,not nough common sense.

No. There is no evidence to say a death penalty increases or decreases the number of murders.

Link to your data, would you? Thanks.

Well that depends on your view of reality - do lean to positivism, constructivism, subjectivism...?

^ From previous post. Also raw data from FBI and some other stuff that you may be useful.

Japan as a contrast may give some clues on how to reduce murder rates.

Whatever the data says, I still object to the death penalty,.

There's just too much danger of error.

Given the mutual trend I think we can agree that it is futile to attempt a comparison of murder rates between states with the death penalty and those without, although it is interesting to see the greater volatility in rate for non-DP states.

I believe very little I hear and less than half of what I see.

Tell the victims of murder that.

Most of what you see isn't real - you need to understand how your eyes work to understand this!

Whatever the data says, and no matter how solid the evidence is against the murderer, I still object to the death penalty.

Because it's wrong to kill people.

    In your opinion.

Many people agree with you and many disagree with you.

I would not wish this to happen to you but if you were about to be attacked would you meet that force with force?
If your attacker was trying to kill you how would you react?
Executing a cold blooded killer is removing the potential for another murder IMO.
