TES Weekend Workshop - Preparing for assessment for AST status - Saturday 18th June

Discussion in 'Professional development' started by TES_Careers, Jun 1, 2011.

  1. Preparing to be assessed for Advanced Skills Teacher status

Many people consider that being an Advanced Skills teacher is the most rewarding job in education because for four days a week you carry on doing an excellent job in the classroom and for one day you help other teachers develop. But the assessment process can be daunting. Not only do you need to complete a rigorous application process with the backing of your head teacher, but you undergo a kind of personalised inspection by an external assessor.
Presented by Sara Bubb, this half day course on Saturday 18th June offers practical advice from an experienced assessor to teachers considering applying for Advanced Skills Teacher status.
    Intended outcomes:
To help participants feel more knowledgeable and confident about the AST assessment process, in particular:
    · what being an AST involves, including pay and conditions
    · understanding the standards to be met
    · completing the application form
    · preparing for the assessment day
    · compiling evidence
£75 including VAT and registration fee
Comments from recent attendees on Sara Bubb courses:
Superb! Well worth getting up at 5am for!
Worth giving up a Saturday for, enjoyed every minute and learned loads.
