TEFL Course in Leeds by UK TEFL

Discussion in 'Teaching overseas' started by f.a.b, Nov 22, 2011.

  1. Hi all,

I just got an email from groupon regarding a very cheap course by UK TEFL

    £80 only, normally £200!

    a 2 day course

  2. A two-day course is worth very little in terms of qualifications. It will not improve your CV at all in my opinion.

You need to do a 1 month RSA/CELTA to have any sort of EFL credibility.

I've looked into this lately, having some time on my hands beteween posts.
It's either a Trinity supported TESOL or Cambridge supported CELTA that are worthwhile and valid worldwide. Each cost about a grand for a 4 week course.
I'm sure there are other options that may be accepted in various places, but equally you may feel you have wasted your money, options are limited and renowned institutions won't touch you. Just applying logic would suggest a 2 day course would hardly set you up for a new career. Personally I'm amazed even the 4 week courses give enough support.
