Teaching Year 6 Science, PLEASE HELP!

Discussion in 'Science' started by Danielmj111, Aug 16, 2015.

  1. Hiya folks,

I just started a new job, and I have 2 groups of 6th graders for science, each 3 times a week. The textbook is Heinemann Explore Science, but it's extremely dry, text heavy and the pictures don't explain anything. The workbook is also very minimal.

I'm looking for an online textbook, video series or computer program that covers the British curriculum in a more engaging way. Basically I'd like to cover all the topics, but not use this textbook.

Does anyone know what I can do? Any resources I should be looking at?

Thank you for any help you can provide

I've used this for the last year- it's very comprehensive and very interactive. A little expensive but it does the job if your school can afford it.

  3. I would back up the recommendation of snap science. It does ask students to do quite a bit of research though.
