Just wondered how people are finding teaching the new curriculum to Y3 who studied the old curriculum last year in Y2?

There are a lot of gaps to fill, particularly in writing - mostly concerning the SPaG objectives. Maths is not such a problem.

I would say that the most able half of my class (2b+) are fine with the reading and the maths, but finding the GaPS and writing expectations hard. The rest are finding it ALL difficult. They are not helped by parents who complain that they cant do the spellings- but don't practise them at home etc

Writing really concerns me. Especially now that I know they have to meet every one of the statements to be an expected.

It really is such a huge leap from old year 2 to new year 3
