Teaching Maths without skills of English language

Discussion in 'Teaching abroad' started by evets, Dec 28, 2010.

  1. Hi,
How do you deal with children in international schools who are
    1. not yet ready with their language skills and have difficulty in understanding maths anyway?
    2. not yet ready with their language skills but have no problems in grasping concepts?
  2. In most schools, international or local, you will find children at very different levels of both language development and mathematical aptitude. Qualified and experienced teachers don´t usually have a problem with this. In my current school, we have a large group of pupils who have a really low level of English, particularly those from China. Many of them excel at maths however.
As with any aspect of teaching, patience and a love of your own subject can achieve wonders.
  3. eh?
