Teaching in prv

Discussion in 'Scotland - education news' started by stupidmove, Feb 25, 2011.

  1. Yup - ended up in private school because of lack of jobs in the real world. What can I tell you?
Different pressures - only hugely magnified.
Parents are in control. I feel like a serf to them, dem rich folks.
Mass competitition between children - which makes me want to vomit.
I did not get into education to make the rich richer...this is what I am doing.
Wrong move...I am not a reverse snob, neither am I a ranting Commy...just a socialist...***...
So sad as to what my qualification has become...worthless...

    Hi Stupidmove,
don't feel despondent - chalk this up to experience! Teaching at a variety of schools makes for a better teacher, I believe - you worked hard for your qualification and from another thread, you chose a teaching career for all the right reasons, so you have a passion to offer!!
Tell us more about your situation and maybe we can point out some positives?
    Joni xx

Don't knock it: a job's a job. There's plenty of unemployed teachers would change places with you.

  5. Thanks - really. I have been shafted by rich people - had enough...children in charge of departments...this is real...they get an D for their prelim. so the Higher class is taken away from me...and I am now a toothless idiot.
Boss loves the rich parents...I hate what I am doing...help...

    Get a grip.

Firstly kids from wealthy backgrounds deserve an education just as much as those with limited financial resource. Children do not chosen which family they are born into or (by and large) which school they are sent to.

Secondly, if you discriminate between children because of how rich their parents are then you are in the wrong job.

Like Dominie says there are many others who think you are in a privileged position.

  7. Very true...and I do know - aplologies to those and that.
I am losing the job anyway - I am not suited to this priveleged world of b**lshit - really hate it.
Children are in charge of departments...that is because of a weak boss who kowtows to rich parents. Life has been awful for the pat few months.
It is a case of buying 'A's - and if the kid does not get it, it is directlty my fault...shocking...had enough of this stuff.
