Teaching in different Key Stage

Discussion in 'New teachers' started by bambi20, May 4, 2011.

  1. I trained as a Key Stage 2 specialist, I started my current post in September as a year 1/2 teacher. Am I right in thinking that additional support is mandatory for those working in unpreferred key stages? And if so are they any examples of types of support.

    Thanks

But you are a primary teacher and, as someone else pointed out, you can be places in year group the HT so chooses. There are threads on here from people moving from year 6 to FS or vice versa. It happens.

Sometimes a HT can take into account people's preferences, but not always and there is no expectation that they have to provide extra support for those who are not where they would choose to be.

Think about it positively. The more experience you have in both key stages the better off you will be when applying for promoted posts later on. It is definitely a good thing to move about.
