And here was me thinking I made that clear.
Who said the thread offended me? I don't believe I did. Surely asking the point of something does not mean the thing in question is giving offence?

  2. Obviously, you did.
Belle, I havent worked with the severely autistic, but my sister is specialised in it as a SALT and works with schools, so if you have any specific questions, PM me and I shall pass it on and get back to you.

    So where was it?

  4. I think asking others if they had similiar experiences and Belle mentioning that she would like to learn more were a bit of a clue, do you not think?

That's what I thought.. Is it that Belle has talked too much about material things in the past that makes you assume she cannot be serious, or is only concerned with herself? Cos that would be a wrong assumption.

She asked for their experiences, this is different to asking for advice. The comments relate to what she had observed much more than how she handled the situation, and even then she did not ask how others would have handled the same situation. Therefore, in this situation I do not believe she was asking for advice.

And are you accusing her of lying? [IMG]

Would you be assuming that I have responded to her posts in the past? I simply thought that this thread was somewhat self indulgent and lacked purpose. I don't have an issue with a bit of light hearted frivolity etc at times, but don't feel it works with the background nature to this thread.

Errmmm....what situation? I don't recall mentioning any situation in particular.
No it's not....not really. Not in a special school which I think it is clear you haven't yet been in Dande.
FWIW, apart from your contributions, all of the posts on this thread (and PMs I've received, relating to it) I have found extremely useful.

  13. Moomoon once worked with severely autistic students. She did find progress in them, and took them on a trip too. Some of the boys weren't happy at all with a simple change the SLT made without thinking about the specialised needs of the students.

Did you watch the drama based on the family who got the dog and it helped the autistic son develop? Keely Hawes was the mum I think? based on a true story.

It's strange to get used to the 'touchy/feely' aspects of working with such youngsters, and getting then changed for swimming, or seeing them pee (or worse!) in front of you in the playground. Some of them are very vocal (not verbal) and others self harm by biting themselves (and staff on occassions).
These sound like situations in which you have found yourself in.
And what gives you that impression? I don't recall stating one way or another my experiences with regard to this.

Well - I am knackered now and have to go to bed! But STILL am not seeing your point . Dande? What was wrong with this thread? I did not see ANY attention seeking from Belledujour here?

  17. I did and havent a clue what you mean, sorry.

Interesting. So you think Belle is attention seeking but not on this occasion and that she has talked too much about material things in the past.

  20. Sorry, I still dont see it. Where did I misspell something and why does that imply I am accusing Belle of lying?
I honestly cant see what you mean.
