I recently started teaching part time in a children's residential care home. I'm a qualified teacher with 6 years' experience in mainstream state school. The private company which owns the care home has offered me a permanent job. As I was paid a MPS 6 salary in mainstream last year, where do I stand with negotiating a salary, and should I expect a SEN allowance, as this job specifically involves teaching children with EBD? Since there are only two teachers at the school, we also both manage all aspects of the school, so would this entitle me to a TLR point equivalent? I'd appreciate some advice about what my expectations should be and how to negotiate in this case. Also - does this sound like a positive career move?!
