Teaching a child in lower set the 9 times tables

    I have seen students using this method before.

    I remember being taught:
    Write 9 to 0 in a list.
    Then to the left write 0 to 9.

    18
    27
    36
    45
    54
    63
    72
    81
    90

    So it goes 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 in the left column.
    then 9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1,0 in the right.

    I use this with KS4 students as the final straw way to show them the 9s. Not exactly mastery, but hey!

    I remember writing this as a young kid, wondering if I could really be the first person to notice it...no I didn't become a Maths genius.
