You mean Turkey that has a per capita GDP of $11,000 compared to an EU average of $34,300?
Yeah that'll be a nice net contributor to the EU coffers...
Or Turkey that has actively sought the overthrow of neighbours government? That has actively traded with ISIS and supported them financially and with weapons... that even now could if it wished easily defeat ISIS with the second largest army in NATO but doesn't.
Or the Turkey that has spent the past year engaged in action described in this weeks
Private Eye [pg20] as genocide. With its army encircling Kurdish towns and cities, shelling and attacking residential areas and killing civilians?
Or the Turkey that has a government actively crushing opposition media, taking over newspapers, imprisoning critics of the government? That has a government wading in corruption allegations and investigations?
And to get a bit conspiratorial. the same Turkey that for four years from 2011-2015 had no problem containing Syrian refugees but after it's undemocratic crack down on protests triggered by Gezi park, and it's inability to take criticism from foreign governments seems to have unleashed a million strong refugee wave in revenge...
