TA's, LA's and ICT

Discussion in 'Primary' started by Al-k, Jun 24, 2011.

  1. Hi everyone,

just wondering how many TA's and LA's are in each year group in your school?

Also do the teachers teach ICT or is there a specialist on most schools?
  2. We teach our own ICT (badly in many cases as we don't have the correct programs) and our TAs vary depending on how many SEN in a year group. We try to split serious SEN across the two classes per year group but some only have one TA for 2 classes while others have 3 TAs.
  3. We teach our own ICT, but there is a technician in the ICT suite to give advice if needed.
As for TAs, it varies. I am in Year 2. We have 8 SEN between the two classes which I know is low (I have 6 of them in my class). We have one TA for 10 hours between the two classes. This includes support for phonics, interventions and we manage to squeeze 1 hour each for general support out of it. It does seem to vary across the school though and Year 1 and reception have more.

Each class has a full time TA ( we have mixed age classes of 20-24 children each) and we have 2 additional TAs who are 1:1 for statemented children.
    We teach our own ICT
