Talk for writing-the next step

Discussion in 'Early Years' started by mcfcmufc, Jan 16, 2011.

  1. Last week we orally and with actions retold the the story using Talk for Writing. This week we have to start the writing process. By the end of the week I want the chn to have 'rewritten' their own version of the story. However, this is a similar outcome to what they did last term with another story.
Is this how its meant to be done using Talk for Writng?

You must make sure they have 'innovated' the text before they write.
You have made sure they know a story which is very repetitive / easily structured. Even if it is not a repetitive story you should make it into one that is.
Now orally retell a slightly changed version of the story with their ideas substituted in - that is the step in between.
