Can anyone offer some guidance on SWST?

Our Year 1 - Year 5 sat the SWST test (paper version) in February at the beginning of the school year (we are in Australia).

Year 1 did Test A, Year 2 did Test B etc.

Once completed, our teachers looked at their students raw scores and just compared those to the SWST Spelling Age tables (in other words, they did not calculate standardised scores). In your view, is this a reasonably accurate snapshot of where year levels are at?

How would you slice and dice the students' dates of birth, age when taking the test and raw score to report Principal on where students are sitting?

We don't do a SWST test, but from your description, we do something similar.

We just calculate spelling age, etc from the tables and that's that.
We do them every year and so can track progress from one year to the next, which is what we use for reporting to the headteacher.
