Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools - Award or Certificate

Discussion in 'Teaching assistants' started by mindxb, Jun 30, 2012.

  1. Hi There

I live and work in Dubai where the Level 3 Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools qualification is not necessary, however I do want to take it. The certificate is only taught by one company costing approx. 2000 pounds. I can do an Award online, however I'm wondering if it holds any weight in the UK? Is it worth doing? Can the award, that covers only 4 units, be regarded highly by schools, compared to a cert that covers 11 modules and some observations? I am already a TA but am very interested in studying for this regardless.

    Thanks a lot
  2. Hi,
If its the City & Guilds Level 3 qualification you're looking at, then you actually need to do both the Award and the Certificate. The two parts make up the whole qualification, so without the award, the certificate is useless and vice versa.
    Hope this helps.
