Supporting gifted child in KS1

    Hi all,

I have a gifted child in my Year 1 class this year. They are a high ability child in all areas (less so in Science) but display clear gifted ability in Maths and tasks that draw upon memory, pattern and visual skills (e.g: spelling, map drawing, times tables, fact recall).

Currently I'm using challenge cards and extensions (different activities but related to the focus) during learning times. I have also been focusing on developing reasoning with them. I've started a G&T Maths group with another child on s trial basis, which they both enjoy so far.

Are there any suggestions for what else I could do? Or anything that works well in your own schools?

    Thanks in advance.
