Supply Work

Discussion in 'Trainee and student teachers' started by Mackey83, Sep 6, 2011.

  1. Dear James,
Please can you tell me how many terms you can work on supply as a NQT?

You have 16 months from the 1st day you do any supply work. You can apply to the local authority for an extension.

Non induction supply work is 16 months from the first day of supply teaching and the clock keeps ticking regardless of how much or little teaching you do. If you start an induction and do not complete 3 terms the supply rule still applies. This is why it's in your best interest to try and land posts of a term or longer which allow you to complete induction. You need to develop a good relationship with agencies to help this. You should also keep an eye open for adverts for vacancies and any LA NQT pools available.
