Supply pay in Borough

Discussion in 'Supply teaching' started by signoradolores, Jun 28, 2012.

  1. Hi,
I've just done some supply work in a school I was employed directly by (not through an agency). I will be paid by the Borough. I have been told I will be paid at my MPS scale. However, if I divide my annual MPS scale by the number of days I have worked the daily amount comes to far less than I have been paid per day when I've done supply work through an agency.
Can anyone tell me how an LEA works out the MPS for a supply teacher per day? Surely it can't be less than the agencies pay?
    Many thanks for your help.
  2. Your daily rate will be your annual scaled salary divided by 196 (could be 195) which are the number of teaching days in a year. It means LEA supply can't be paid more than contracted staff if working every day but does give you holiday pay included. Think this is correct.
  3. Thank you for your reply Cliveceltic. That makes far more sense.[IMG]
