I am using references from supply jobs that I have done, so am not sure about who to put for references. I know that you should put the head of a school, but the head probably had no idea who I was, or if I was in! (secondary). Is is alright to put the HOD / contact that has actually agreed to do the reference for me? It's bad enough that these references are over a year old (though I have checked that they are still willing) and the only recent one I have is the head of the infants school I have been helping at.

In most secondaries (and I'm surprised the HoD doesn't know), the Head is put down as the referee and then - asks the HoD to write it! The Head just signs it.
But if you also have a Head from the other school, and that is actually more recent, then that will be fine.
    Best wishes
