Supply and Induction (Wales)

Discussion in 'Cymru - education news' started by welshsunshine1, Jan 26, 2011.

  1. From the GTCW.
Firstly the date you qualified would be the date that shows on your QTS certificate and not the date you received the certificate.
In relation to Induction, you have 5 years from the QTS date to complete your Induction period; after this time you can still complete the Induction but would need to request an extension from the Welsh Assembly or Local Authority to continue to do short term supply work; you can obtain 2 extensions each lasting a year.
After this extra 2 years you can still work towards completing Induction in Wales but you would not be able to carry out short term supply work.

Haha. Well, this just goes against the guidance within their booklets and I think, this info is flawed.

You have 5 years to complete induction from the date you first start induction, not from when you gain QTS. As for the date on the QTS certificate, it is the date you recieve your certificate. I graduated in July many years back gaining QTS but the certificate stated end of August.

As for supply work, well, they already say they cannot take away QTS. And I don't think they could prevetn peole continuing with supply anyway. Loads already still do it and still have yet to complete induction even after the 5 years. if the worst comes to the worst, go in as a cover supervisor.
