How much weighting does the opinion of the student council have on a candidates suitabilty for the job? Some say very little, yet others say differently. What are the children looking for in a prospective teacher?

Come on - the appointment panel needs training to ensure that they select the right candidate - do you think that pupil power can equal that?
It may not actually be the views of the pupils, as the view of the member of staff observing the interaction with the pupils . . .
Depends which children, what age, what their experience of school has been. But generally, it will not be exactly what the appointment committee is looking for!
Do a search on here for "student council" to get some other posters' experience of this.
    Good luck.
