How about Cleversticks? Interactive can you use chopsticks challenge?- Boy is sad he cannot do things like his classmates such as write his name or put on his apron by himself, but then his teacher realises he can use chopsticks, and he teaches everybody else to too - lovely book.
or All in a Day by Anno Mitsumasa- pictures and brief text to illustrate a day in the life of children from 8 different countries showing how similar and different their lives are.
or All the Colours of the Earth by Sheila Hamanaka - this is a great book which helps us realise that despite outward differences, we are all essentially the same.
or The Name Jar - Yangsook Choi - A Korean girl who moves to America is embarrased about her Korean name and so she tells herclassmates she doesn't have one yet, they all choose names and put them in a jar - eventually she is proud to tell them her real name.

Or try this website ... http://en.childrenslibrary.org/ - great International Children's Library online where you can read the books.
You could take screen shots of the pages, create an interactive digital book of a story you like.
  2. Thank you very much.
I taught CNY last week and I am sure we have 'Cleversticks' in the collection of books - nice links all round.
Thanks for the link to the website -I hadn't seen that before - it's got some lovely books on it that I will be suing for future lessons.
Thanks for taking the time to reply and for saving me a few hours of work on a Sunday afternoon!

If you can organise fundraising as well, you could get a pack from Sport Relief? They do a great activity kit for early years groups which includes story books about a girl from Sierra Leone, and folds out to become a poster that children can decorate themselves, all they ask is that you raise some money for Sport Relief. The packs are free and you can sign up for them on the website www.sportrelief.com/earlyyears
Hope your assembly goes well! x
  4. Hello, I am looking to find a novel for KS2 with the theme of 'around the world', where different countries or places are mentioned. Anybody able to help?
