  1. STOKE & STAFFORDSHIRE SECONDARY PROM – FREE TICKETS AVAILABLE!
    VICTORIA HALL, STOKE-ON-TRENT
    TUESDAY 8 FEBRUARY 2011, 1.30-3.00PM

The Stoke and Staffordshire Secondary Prom will be Music for Youth’s first ever concert specifically aimed at secondary aged students, made possible through the support of Vivendi.

The concert, suitable for both Key Stage 3 and 4 students, will explore musical components of rhythm, melody, harmony and form which are common to the full range of musical genres presented on stage.?We have programmed a band, orchestra, choir and brass band playing both familiar and new work as well as a marimba soloist from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama presenting a new composition that won the BBC Proms young composer’s award.

Composition is a theme throughout the show, unpacking the possibilities of how music can be put together with a new ensemble, Vivendi Sounds, made up of young musicians from across Stoke and Staffordshire premiering their new work. Supported by the online teacher resource, which will be sent to you in advance, it’s our intention that the event will inspire your students to perform and give them tangible starting points from which to create their own work.

With screens and cameras, a finale of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody and presenter Barney Harwood, recently announced presenter of Blue Peter, steering us through the musical journey we can guarantee an inspirational experience.
