Starting PGCE in September what do I need?

Discussion in 'Primary' started by stacey1004, Jun 12, 2011.

  1. I am hoping for a shopping list of items/books that you guys on the front line have found invaluable as a Primary Teacher, and particularly what items where needed during your PGCE.
    Thanks in advance.
p.s. I have already bought a laminator and have started stockpiling files!
  2. Essential Primary Science (tells you the info you need to know to teach, what you need to teach in which key stage and some lesson ideas and ICT links)
The Element - Ken Robinson (for an inspiring read)
Formative Assessment in Action - Shirley Clarke (sound very dull, but actually really useful)
For literacy books by Pie Corbett. Which one depends on your key stage.
    The Lazy Teacher's Handbook
I also have a range of my picture books that I read to the class and a monster puppet. You might want these, depending on what age you are teaching (although most children like a monster puppet and books like The Mole Who Knew it was None of his Business)
  3. Thanks, will have a trawl on amazon!
