SQA - can candidates gain access to their marked paper?

Just a question. Motivated by a concerned parent who believes their child did far better in an exam than the award given. Can the pupil/parent access the marked paper to investigate just what it is they got wrong?

Candidates are able to get their component marks for exams, but that's all. I don't believe that's going to change under new GDPR legislation.

    SQA website states:

'You have the right to request access to the personal information that we process about you. Your request is known as a subject access request.

In response to your request you will receive a copy of the information that SQA holds about you, including any marks or comments that have been added to your script, if available. However you will not receive a copy of the examination script itself as this is exempt from release under this legislation [Data Protection Legislation]. Please note that SQA markers are instructed not to add their comments to examination scripts, but this does occasionally happen.'
